Successive calls to...

I'm successfully saving to a local JSON file using FileReference.save(), but subsequent calls to FileReference.save() append the new JSON string to any?previous JSON strings already in the file.

Is there a way to force the file to be fully overwritten by the new data string?

Make PDF Comments searchable with Mac...

Hello All,

I'm about to re-enter school for my master's degree and I'm expecting to do a lot of work with PDF files (reading, writing, editing, etc.).?The comments feature is particularly useful, since I will need to be taking notes when reading such documents.?After some mild testing--open a PDF, place arbitrary comment within file, then save a close PDF--has shown that the comments within such PDFs are not searchable by the Mac Spotlight feature.?Is there a way to enable this ability, or am I stuck making an entirely separate text file with notes for every PDF I read?

Thanks for the information,

WD

Make PDF Comments searchable with Mac...

A quick Google search turns up nothing. I've never heard of a way to search PDF comments with Spotlight. Spotlight looks for metadata which is stored EXTERNAL to the PDF file itself, or other file formats it supports. It doesn't actually READ inside the PDF (which could be painfully slow).

You could try selecting each PDF, and choosing File %26gt; Get Info. In the Spotlight Comments field at the top enter keywords for things you want to be able to search for in Spotlight.

Make PDF Comments searchable with Mac...

Hello Steve,

While in one case, I suppose you are correct in postulating that Spotlight catalogs metadata external to file, that's not entirely true.?For instance, I keep a text file called ''Info'' where I place random bits of information I'd like to come back to for more research (i.e. books to read, movies to see).?If I do a Spotlight search for ''Visual Explanations'' (sans quotes), this Information file is returned because it contains the text ''Visual Explanations, Quantities, Evidence, Narrative - Edward Tufte'', a book I'd like to purchase in the future.?So Spotlight is capable of reading some internal file information, and I had hoped to enable it to read my notes contained within PDF files.

I've considered tagging PDFs using Tagit (for Mac), which adds tags to the Info field in the Get Info dialog box, but while that adds to my ability to categorize a file according to general tags, it does not allow me to look within large quantities of random notes in my PDF comments.?Creating tags that encompass a commented PDF would take far too long and would add an unwieldy amount of tags to the system.?

I hope this clarifies my thoughts on the matter--thanks for your reply.

Spotlight does actually read inside files of certain types (including doc and PDF). (File content is added to the metadata that is used to generate the Spotlight index for supported file types.)

I'm not sure if there's any nice way to get it to read comments, though, as Apple doesn't support all of the features that can be included in PDFs. Since they've added commenting, though, it's strange they don't search comments well.

What about content in a text box? That might be a workaround if that content gets indexed.

Using my test PDF file, I've typed unique text in Callout boxes, Comment boxes, and Text boxes, and so far none of them is searchable in Spotlight.?I'm not sure what the capture rate of Spotlight is--that is, how soon things are added to the Spotlight catalog--but after two days of using the computer and leaving it on overnight, Spotlight has yet to allow me to find these items in a search.?So far, I'm guessing that I'll have to export the comments to a text file after doing my markup, or just take notes somewhere else.

One workaround (not ideal, since you'll end up creating a duplicate file of your document) would be to create another PDF of your document by selecting ''Print with Comment Summary'' from the Comments menu. Printing to the Adobe PDF engine while selecting the fourth option (and probably the first option) would give you searchable comments. Unfortunately, you'd end up having duplicates of each document: one searchable document and one ''working'' document.

I've just tried it with the fourth layout option, and Spotlight found my test text immediately.

Disclaimer: I'm the author of Pear Note

You could use an external note-taking tool that supports PDF files such as Pear Note. I'm a little biased (as I write Pear Note), but I use it for taking notes on PDF documents all the time. The notes and PDF are both searchable by Spotlight. It's definitely a different way of working, but it accomplishes the goal of linking notes with PDF document and having both be searchable.

What happened to the Premiere Pro CS3...

It appears that there is no longer a separate CS3 forum.

If this is true, have all of the CS3 posts been moved to the Premier Pro Forum?

What happened to the Premiere Pro CS3...

Yes

The root of the premiere forum explains it:

Does the Yes answer mean that all of the old CS3 posts have been carried over?

The Mods in that forum (where I read a lot, post once in awhile) are still working on cleaning things up after the change is major headings

If you have a particular message that needs to be moved from one place to another, post the link in the lounge... with a title something like ''Mod - please move this post'' and, based on some other messages I've seen, your message will eventually be moved

Bump

Then, of course, there are those who can't read the new subject headings, and post a Premiere PRO question in the section for plain old Premiere

I don't know if those will be moved or not (the Mods DO have their own lives, after all)

I didnt bother moving this cause I think the question was answered fine here.?Its not really a product question, its a ''wheres'' the forum question as a result of the Pr team re-orging the premiere area a while back.

Steve,

There was much confusion as to where one should post, with the old designations. The decison was made to try to group the sub-fora into a managable order. Premiere (non-Pro) was created, and all versions of PrPro (1.0 through CS4) were placed into another sub-forum. Premiere Elements stayed separate, as it should.

Now, with the two Premiere fora, one should mention their version in the Title, i.e. ''[Pr 6.5] Export Issues.''

To me, it makes perfect sense, as soon as one gets used to the change. The Encore forum went from about 15 sub-fora to five +/-, and it works well.

Give it time,

Hunt

I do remember a ''few'' (2 or 3?) questions that were specific to porn production.

You may have a real challenge here.?Trying to precisely fit content over complex background images is not exactly an optimal way to build web pages.?But anyway....

Start by changing your table width to 100%.?1680px is very wide even by today's standards.?Most of my site visitors use 1024 -1280 wide displays.?And most of those do not brows with the viewport maximized.?So 1680 is just too awkward for most users.

Liquid layouts or percentages have some major drawbacks as well.?Your layout may start dropping stuff down if it's re-sized too much, or it may grossly stretch apart on ultra wide displays.?Personally, I think the best layouts for beginners are fixed-width, somewhere between 900 - 1000px, centered.

I have taken a look at your suggestions, and i am going to push to design pages in dreamweaver to similar formats in the future.

I have heard there is a Javascript that can allow the entire page to resize in accordance to smaller browsers and/ or ask the end user to resize to full browser size to view information.

Is this true. if so please let me know. If not, in your opinion, do all the elements of the page have to be changed?

Thanks again, you have been most helpful.

    Please visit the site www.trbla.com

Sorry to say, but image maps are not an optimal way to build web pages and haven't been since the mid 1990's.?To illustrate my point,?run your web page URLs through this SEO Browser tool.

    http://www.seo-browser.com

You will see your site as the Search engines see your site.?Which is to say, NO CONTENT!.?Images or image maps are no substitute for actual HTML text.?I think your design is very nice for print but it doesn't work well on the web where pages need to be flexible and contain content for search engines, people, screen readers and translators to grab onto.

If you think a Javascript that resizes your page is going to solve this problem, you're mistaken.?It won't resize all your graphics and adjust the layout proportionately for you.?That comes from good web design and pre-planning in the design phase. Viewing maximized doesn't help people like myself who do not have a 1680 wide display.

Rebuild this site the correct way.?Find a suitable CSS layout to work with. I highly recommend using CSS Layout Magic or one of the Page Packs from Project Seven. They're rock solid, work in all browsers and you'll learn a great deal from examining their code.

Jump to Slide Screen Not Loading

I have been having one problem after another with Captivate 4. An earlier issue (broken Open Files Links) I cannote figure out...likely a Flash problem since by accident I found that the links work on another computer, but not on my work computer or personal PC. As soon as I think my problems are solved, another issue arises. I have an 89-slide instructional module with various ''Jump to Slide'' links within the module, in particular from a menu page (first slide of the file). All seems to go well until I select the last button on my menu page, which is a summary page (located on slide 89). When it tries to navigate there, I see my index (Table of Contents) icon come up, and the rest of the screen is white...it does nothing). I tried moving slides around, for example I moved the Mod Summary slide to the beginning vs. end, which seemed to work, but then it hosed up other screens. Can anyone help?

Jump to Slide Screen Not Loading

    Hi there

Is there by chance a question slide perched majestically between where you are and where you want to go? If there is, depending on your quiz settings, Captivate may be expecting the question to be answered before allowing you to navigate beyond it.

On your Flash linking issue, it's worth noting that there are many different versions of the Flash player in existence. You may find things link just dandy on one PC only to find they fail miserably on another. (If you are running content locally)

Jump to Slide Screen Not Loading

Thanks again for your quick reply. There are no quiz slides at all in the file that I'm having problems with. I have a menu screen on the first page with 5 buttons that link to content within the file, and several others that link to external files. The problem always seems to occur toward the end of the file (the later slides). It first occurred when I'd link to the summary page, so I simply moved the summary to a location at the beginning of the file vs. the end.

    Hi Kristi,

Can you try any of these.. This can solve the problem to some extent

    1. Place the summary slide in a new project and set the action as open project for the button which used to point to the summary slide. Dont forget to place all the published contents of the summary project into the original project published folder.

    or

    2. Place a blank slide of duration 0.1 second before the Summary slide and link the button to jump to this blank slide. In preview you might be able to see the summary slide contents.

Does this help please let me know.

    -Ashwin

    Thanks for your response Ashwin.

With regard to item 1, I cannot move the summary slide outside of this module because I have a TOC set up to view all items including the Lesson Summary.

With regard to item 1, I acutally tried to do the 0.1 screen prior to you recommending, and it still doesn't work. Tried again, to no avail?

Has anyone had problems similar to this were a screen just refused to load? Any other suggestions...I'm kind of running out of time.

Let me add a few more details to this problem of my screen not loading from a main menu with buttons that link to various sections of my lesson. When I run the training in my browser (again, all my files are HTML and SWF), my links for the first two lessons work like a charm. If I hit the third lesson (and sometimes the fourth), I get awhite blank screen, with only my TOC arrows in the top right corner, which still allow me to open the TOC window. I can navigate to almost any screen I choose from the TOC, then if I return back to my Lesson menu, and again select the third buttton, it works like a charm! Sheesh. Are there any file size restrictions with Flash Player? Based on this additional info, does anyone have any suggestions?  I have over 9 months of work into this, and suddenly things are starting to break, and they weren’t broke before.

Conent - mostly all standard course navigation buttons, 7 full motion recording flvs (pulled in externally), text, images, and various interactions such as mouseovers, hotspots, TOC, etc. (no audio, screen caps were done outstide of Cap, an my quizzes are in a separate swf file).

    Captivate .cp is 14,176 KB

    Pun;odjrf swf is 5,065 KB

Thanks for your speedy reply. I hope you (or someone can shed some light).

    KM

I just wanted to post an update to this series of posts. I believe, upon accident, that I have isolated my problem some of the latter “jump to slide” hyperlinks loading. The hyperlinks seem to malfunction from a main menu (Slide 1) when I select hyperlinks from slides that are in the last half of the slide sequence, and only when I select them first. In other words, I believe that the problem is related to the full swf not loading in its entirety, and then if the user selects either of the two hyperlinks to the latter slides prior to the full swf loading, then it freezes. This sequence of events is highly unlikely to happen from the user perspective, unless, of course, they return to the couse with specific intent to revisit either of the latter lessons (Lessons 3 or 4) first. Does anyone have any creative suggestions for a fix or workaround to this?

  • Saveable List of User-Entered urls

I鈥檝e found the following code on the net that is a basic example of using the sharedObject method to allow users to save data, however I want to enhance this same example so that in the text area, the user can enter different urls and then when each url that the user has entered is clicked it will navigate to that specific page.

I know that allowing a user to merely enter a url into a single text box and then have it link to the relevant site once clicked is a simple process but I want to achieve this within the following example so that users can save their url list, reset their entire list back to blank or perhaps delete each link individually by clicking on it then clicking a delete button.

My main problem is that it seems the selectedItem.text property can鈥檛 be accessed within a text area's click command and it doesn't seem the itemClick function is available in a text area like it can in a TileList for example so I鈥檓 not sure how I can get it to navigate to the contained url of each item when each item is actually clicked. If this post answers your question or helps, please mark it as such.

You should use a List instead of a TextArea. I've created a custom component to get the URL from the user, and the URLs are displayed in the main app are launchable, and deletable.

I still have to get loading the SharedObject working right, but here is the code so far:

    ------- AddURL.mxml -----------

I tried for hours to get it done myself but it works great now. Thanks a lot.

I have a strange problem after I've changed this application into an AIR application. When I run it and click the 'Go' button on any of the added urls the site doesn't open. Internet Explorer doesn't even open at all.

The strange thing is this works fine if it's ran as an Flex application so I just can't figure out why it would'nt as an AIR app

I can't look at this right now, but you might want to consider using the HTML control as a popup.

It's ok no worries. I've managed to get it fixed by changing the gotoURL function to:-

    public function gotoURL(evt:MouseEvent):void{

    {navigateToURL(new URLRequest('http://' + urlList.selectedItem.url))};

    }

    Works fine now. Cheers.

    Cannot re-open a saved slideshow in PSE6

    Hi,

I created a couple of small slideshow in PSE6 and saved the project at the end.?When I tried to re-open any of these two project in the organizer by double clicking on the project's icon nothing happens.?I tried a right click and selecting 'Edit...' but I get the same thing.

I looked for updated to my software version but it is up-to-date.?I'm using Windows XP.

    Thanks for your help.

    Cannot re-open a saved slideshow in PSE6

I've opened a case with Adobe and still haven't gotten a response.

I did download the trial version of PSE 7 and it worked fine so there must be something wrong with version 6.

    Cannot re-open a saved slideshow in PSE6

Can you check any?files used in slideshow has deleted from hard disk ?

Allow users to create a Personalized...

    Hi,

I want to use ajax to create a web application that will allow users personalize their homepage e.g. hide/show widgets, move widgets, re-order navigation lists etc. Just like iGoogle and yahoo and the like.

Can this be achieved using the spry framework? Or must this be hand coded using javascript, html and CSS?

    GF

Allow users to create a Personalized...

The Spry Frameworks does not contain drag and drop widgets (yet?). But show hide, is available etc.

But this shouldn't be limiting factor, as Spry can be combined with any other framework, without causing any conflicts.

    Accessing remote SQL server

    Hello, all.

This is the first time I've ever needed to access a remote SQL server, and I'm getting an attribute validation error for the cfquery tag.

The CFQUERY tag currently opens as:

    %26lt;cfquery name=''[queryName]'' debug=''1'' username=''#User#'' password=''#Pass#'' dbserver=''[SQL Server IP]'' dbname=''[databaseName]''%26gt;

What are the attributes that I need in order to remotely access the database?

    Thanks,

    ^_^

    Accessing remote SQL server

You need to setup a datasource in the CF admin pointing to the remote

server, using dbServer will not work.

  • cheap make up
  • Rotating lots of videos (not just one)

I see there are plenty of questions on how to rotate videos in increments of 90 degrees, and that would be perfect for me except that I have about a hundred or so that need rotating. I have both PS Elements and Premiere, and obviously prefer not to create a new project for every one of them when all I want to do is a simple rotation.

What I'm really looking for is some way to just click on a bunch of them that I want to rotate, say, 90 degrees clockwise, press a button, and go have lunch while the computer works. Unfortunately PS Elements only seems to do this with still images.

I'm not averse to getting some other software if that's what it takes. And no, my camera manufacturer's software does not rotate videos at all, much less something that is either one at a time (but very simple - just press a button or two and that's it) or better yet a batch operation. Does anyone have a suggestion about how this can be done for a bunch at a time?

    Thanks ...

Rotating lots of videos (not just one)

Rotate one of the videos on your timeline, then right click it and select Copy. Then select all the videos you want to rotate, you can lasso them, and then right click on these and select Paste Attributes.

Rotating lots of videos (not just one)

What version of Premiere Elements are you using?

I think this would apply to at least versions 7 and 4, probably all, but....

Say you have 5 videos on the Premiere Elements Timeline. Right click one of the videos on the Timeline and select Rotate 90 degrees left or right.

With that video highlighted, Edit Menu/Copy.

    Then Edit Menu/Select All.

    Then Edit Menu/Paste Attributes.

All your 5 videos should now be rotated 90 degrees (left or right).

What do you think? I do not think that this will allow you enough time for lunch. It is quick.

    ATR

The Copy/Paste Attributes will definitely get your images Rotated.

For the utmost in quality, I find that both for Rotation and for resizing, PS/PSE does a better job. This would be done, prior to Import, and also removes the overhead of the Motion%26gt;Rotation Effect being added to and then processed for a lot of still images.

In either PS, or PSE, one can create an Action to do any resizing and also Rotation. This can be done in batch, and a Save_As to a folder, like ''Finished_JPEG's.'' Then, the entire processed folder can be Imported into PE.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

    Hunt,

Could I ask you to explain your response after its first paragraph? Was it some ''just in case'' information? The user is working with videos, not jpegs.

    ATR

    Tony,

Yes - I had read the comment about the ''still images,'' and thought that the OP had a combo. I now see that the ''Video'' was shot 90閳?out, and that no stills were involved.

That's what I get for getting on the laptop, when I have just returned from a trip! My bad...

    Hunt

PS also trying to watch Tiger Woods at the Buick too!

Thanks for everyone's efforts, but I think I need to learn more about Premiere Elements first because I don't really understand what y'all are talking about. This is my fault - although I've used PS Elements for a while I'm completely new to Premiere Elements. It's my understanding that a timeline is mainly used to be able to play multiple clips as part of the same overall presentation - which I do not want to do. I want to rotate a hundred or so original video files that are unrelated to each other. With jpgs this possible in Windows Explorer, but not so with avi videos. I'm just hoping there's a quick and dirty way to do it using Premiere simply because I have a copy of it.

Unfortunately you can not do this in Premiere Elements... you need something like a batch rotator for video files... I dont know of one.

The best that you can do is to Import these ~100 files into a ''work'' Project, and then drag them to the Timeline. Take the first one, and go to Effects%26gt;Edit Effects. Apply the Motion%26gt;Rotation Effect (one of the ''Fixed'' Effects in all Clips. Now, Rt-click that Clip (with the Motion%26gt;Rotation applied) and choose Copy, and then Lasso all other Clips on the Timeline. Rt-click on them and choose Paste Attributes.

All of your Clips will now be Rotated by the same amount. To get these Rotated Clips out as individual ''corrected'' separate files, you can use the WAB (Work Area Bar) and Export to DV-AVI for just the Work Area. It might be easier to see and manipulate the WAB, if you first go to the New Icon in the Project Panel and create Black Video. Then, insert an instance of this Black Video between each Clip. Don't worry if a few frames of it is Exported, along with the Rotated Clip, as you can always Trim this out with the In %26amp; Out Points.

Because of the need to Export, this is not as simple as batch processing JPEG's in PS/PSE, but not that difficult.

I'm with Paul_LS, in that I have never seen a Rotational utility that would work at the OS level. Usually, one does not have that many Video Clips that need to be Rotated. In my years, I think I have only done this with two, and they were for a PiP abstract effect.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

Here is a look at the Effects Control Panel (Effects%26gt;Edit Effects) and the Motion%26gt;Rotate set to 90 degrees Left.

Here's a look at the WAB (Work Area Bar) for Exporting each Clip as a DV-AVI file:

Just set your WAB and make sure that in Export you change from Project to Work Area Bar in the Export settings.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

    Hi Wine Snob -

Thanks for the detailed answer (though a couple of others were pretty good too). It seems I have a lot to learn about Premiere but the step by step directions help.

I'm very surprised there is no ''batch rotation'' utility out there somewhere but the instructions here give me something to go on.

    Thanks, and drink up!

I think that the dearth of utilities is because of the lack of a real need for video. In still photography, it is very common, with the horizontal and vertical aspect of capture.

Since one does not have (to the best of my knowledge) a true batch utility, the workaround is the best that I can think of.

Now, I am not even going to ask how so many Videos need to be Rotated...

I happen to have many reels of S-8mm film of the last race that I participated in with my XKE. I handed the camera over to my wife, when I took to the start line. She filmed about 1 hour of race footage in ''vertical'' mode! At least now, I can do a cine transfer to miniDV tape and Rotate all of that footage. Unfortunately, I was beaten by about four 6-cyl. Porsches in that last race.

    Hunt

Since some of you wondered why there are so many videos that need rotating, over half of them involve a trip I took recently with a large group (about 25 of us) to Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world. That particular show is all vertical, so that's how we shot it. And yes, it's really spectacular, but it would be moreso if I didn't have to tilt my head. ;-)

it's really spectacular, but it would be more so if I didn't have to tilt my head. ;-)

    Final update -

I've started rotating some of these videos. There are a couple of workflow items to throw in there, most notably that when you create the new file the timestamp changes (of course) in the organizer and needs to be updated. Nothing too bad though. At this point it's something where I knock off a couple each night when I'm looking for something to do.

But I've managed to rescue the best so far. One of them involves flying up to and over top of the rim of Angel Falls in a light aircraft, something Discovery Channel would have published if it had been taken with pro-level video equipment. Though I have to admit just tilting my head for that one would still have been pretty awesome.

    Thanks for the assistance.

I found your forum. Thought you could help with my mystery. I want to rotate one video file (AVI) 90 degrees. It was imported to my Adobe PSE 6 organizer. I can't seem to find any way to rotate a video. And the editor says it doesn't support video editing.Others in this forum mention a timeline. Can't find that either. Thanks for helping me figure this out.

I'm not nearly as experienced as some of the others here, so if anyone sees something please correct me.

My understanding is that PS Elements will not do this - at all. You need Premiere or some other dedicated video editor. And apparently there is no ability to rotate a passel of videos the same way. However, you can do it one at a time.

Import the video into a new project (there's a ''gotcha'' here, which I'll come back to). Then drag the video onto the Timeline. Close any gaps you don't want, then just Rotate 90 degrees in the direction you choose. All this can be done by right clicking and choosing from the menus. Once done, you can either Export or Share as appropriate (I'm not entirely clear on the difference, this is as far as I've gotten). Wine_snob posted some descriptive screen shots in this thread explaining how to do all this.

Now, here's the gotcha. Apparently, the video format is critical - and you choose the format you are working with for the Project Settings before you actually import the file. Not sure why that is the case but I am a complete n00b when it comes to video editing. It's my understanding that if you don't pick the ''right'' project setting at the very start you might as well start over. This is probably not a big deal for most people but apparently Canon decided to go with a video format Adobe doesn't play with very well. The consequence is that if you import in an aspect ratio of, say, 4:3, the desired rotation leaves you with 3:4, which is not a supported standard.

That's my understanding anyway, I'm probably quite wrong about at least something here. I hope.

It was imported to my Adobe PSE 6 organizer

Probably need to get Premiere version. With my PSE6 I started a new project-slideshow, hoping to see a way to rotate there. But no luck. I can create a slide show with videos and slides, but no editing features seem to be there. When I right click the video in the slide show storyboard, I only get ''delete slide.'' Don't see any timeline anywhere in slideshow. The only thing that comes close is the time noted below each slide whether video or image.

In addition, there wasn't ability to do a save as WMV to computer until I imported the video. then I saved the project as a WMV file to computer. But nothing changed as to any features for rotating either video (original format AVI when imported) or jpg images there. Oh well. Unless anyone has other possibilities, I think I'm stuck. Thanks anyway.

What would be your recommendation for upgrading so I can do more with videos--i.e. PSE7 + Premier? I assume Premier has rotating abiities for videos, etc. I read on some reviews that the Premier has some problems with the Plus membership for online storage. Some say the Plus help keeps coming up and there's no way to say no thank you...a nuisance since I won't probably be using it. But I gues I won't know unless I get it and try it out. Some say the Premier is a good video editing program. May stay with what I have for right now. Not certain.

    What do you think?

In the scheme of things Photoshop Elements is the photo editor and Premiere Elements is the video editor. When you were in the Photoshop Elements Organizer trying unsuccessfully to rotate your video there and saw mention of a ''timeline'' here, that timeline was in Premiere Elements, not Photoshop Elements. Photoshop Elements Organizer will let you bring in video, but not edit it. I think that all has been said in the previous response.

BUT, way back August 1, 2009 1:56 pm in this topic?(toward the beginning of this topic), I detailed how to to rotate one or more videos on the Premiere Elements Timeline. Others detailed utilities that might do the job for those who wanted to avoid the hassle of bringing so many videos into Premiere Elements just to rotate it and then get them out. That was my take on the reasoning behind that alternative.

I do not know if I need to clarify a few other things, but here goes, just in case.

If you can import a video into Premiere Elements Timeline, you can rotate it there, be it .avi, .mts, .wmv, etc.

Independant of this rotation business, when you bring a video into Premiere Elements you set a project preset in the New Project dialog before the working interface opens. To best results and sometimes required, the project preset (set of project settings) should match as closely as possible the properties of the video that you are bringing in. You do that so that you will be editing in the ''template'' of the project settings. You can still change the preset for export when you get to your export dialog, that is, you are not bound to the project preset for your export setting.

Two other things, do you presently have Premiere Elements? If not, then you might want to explore the alternatives elaborated on earlier and used. If you do have Premiere Elements and want more details on how to get your video into Premiere Elements, rotated, and exported please let me know, indicating the format of the video involved and what is an acceptable export type for it.

    Hunt,

When I received an e-mail report of SL Bseeker's post in my computer Outlook Express, I opened it, read it as well as Justjeffindc's response, and felt that it needed some clarification.

By the time I got around to hit the ''Post Message'' button, there was a wealth of communciations between other parties that was not there when I hit that ''Post Message'' button.

So, I would hope that SL Bseeker et al will read my message in the background.

    Hunt,

    Message #2....

I do not believe that SL Bseeker is talking about a Premiere Elements Welcome Screen. More than likely it is an annoying pop up, first wanting you to sign up for the free photoshop.com membership or the non free photoshop.com plus membership. Even if you sign up for the free photoshop.com membership, you may still get the pop up for the non-free photoshop.com membership until you give in. I do not believe that anyone has found a way to deal with those messages, short of just ignoring them.

    Hunt,

    Message #3

Yes, you can rotate video clips in Windows Movie Maker.

Right click the video brought to the Timeline of Windows Movie Maker.

Select ''Video Effects'' from the pop up menu.

In the dialog that opens, in Available Effects, scroll to Rotate (has three offerings, 180, 270, and 90).

Click Add to do just that for the one that you highlight in Available Effects.

    Click OK.

Just some thoughts on slideshows, Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements....

    1. If you only have Photoshop Elements 6 and want to make a better quality product for viewing on the TV (DVD player), then you need additional software to generate your DVD-VIDEO, a higher quality product. If you do not want to invest in Premiere Elements 4 to do the task, then:

    a. create your slideshow in the Photoshop Elements 6 slideshow editor, output it with the Output option ''Save As File Movie (wmv)'', and take that wmv saved to your computer hard drive to a program such as Nero (Nero Vision application with DVD plugin) to generate the DVD-VIDEO.

    2. If you have Photoshop Elements 6 and Premiere Elements 4, you have an ''integrated set'' which means that it offers some perks that a non integrated set does not have. Integrated sets are Photoshop Elements 5/Premiere Elements 3, Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 4, and Photoshop Elements 7/Premiere Elements 7. The biggest peak of an integrated set is that it allows you to use the Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor Output ''Send to Premiere Elements'' so that the Premiere Elements the ''Break Apart Slideshow'' option is available, allowing you to do further significant edits.

    So, consider you next step:

    a. buy Premiere Elements 4, if still available, to get the further editing perk from its integration with Photoshop Elements 6

    b. upgrade to Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7, which will soon be upgraded to Photoshop Elements 8 and Premiere Elements 8.

There is nothing to prevent you from using a non integrated set, such as Photoshop Elements 6 and Premiere Elements 7, but you lose the ''Break Apart Slideshow'' option in Premiere Elements 7 that is associated with Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor Output option ''Send to Premiere Elements''.

    c. other

When dealing with a video editor, it is good check out Supported Import Types. The native format of the Premiere Elements Timeline is DV AVI. Not all videos with a file extension of .avi are DV AVI. That AVI is a wrapper format that contains different format, for example, MotionJPEG AVI, AVI MPEG4, etc.

When considering new software, always consider System Requirements and cross check them against your computer resources, such as installed vs available RAM and total capacity vs free hard drive space. I have mentioned video so far, but, if you have stills in that slideshow headed for DVD-VIDEO, check out the pixel dimensions of those stills and do not let them exceed 1000 x 750 pixels.

That is just a rough idea of some considerations. Please let me know if you have any questions about what I have written.

    ATR

Thanks for the input. No , I don't have Premier. Just PSE6. I'll need to review the other alternatives since I didn't catch any that worked for me with just PSE6. In the?meantime, if you are so inclined, feel free to give a ''to do'' on ''get your video into Premiere Elements, rotated, and exported please let me know, indicating the format of the video involved and what is an acceptable export type for it.''

    Video format = AVI

Project format saved as after importing AVI video into slide show = WMV (I assume this is the acceptable one; but if you think differently, please offer. This territory is new to me).

    Thanks.

    Tony,

I do not have PrE 7, but from the discussions on the Adobe.com pop-up, I was under the impression that it came along with the Splash Screen, just after loading. Maybe I just misunderstood, especially as I have not actually seen this and only have PrE 4, prior to the new ''thing,'' that Adobe has.

From the sounds of it, I'd sign up, just to keep the pop-up at bay, even though I cannot image using the storage for anything, and do not see the ''gallery'' as something that I'd need.

    Thanks for the info,

    Hunt

    Video format = AVI

    Tony,

Thank you for that info. Did not want to state that as a possiblity, since I hardly ever use that program - kinda' like Audacity. I can tell someone how to do something in PrPro, Adobe Auditon, some in PrE and a ton in Photoshop - some of the others, well I may have them, and use them once per year, but do not claim to ''know'' them.

    Appreciated,

    Hunt

PS how does it handle the Aspect Ratio change (from 4:3 to 3:4 [US terms here], the the OP encountered)? Just curious.

    Tony,

This is a great point and always merits mention.

When considering new software, always consider System Requirements and cross check them against your computer resources, such as installed vs available RAM and total capacity vs free hard drive space.

Wow! Am I impressed with all everyone's help. Will read over everything carefully and try again tomorrow. Thanks much.

    PLEASE HELP - Duplicate Function...

Hello -PLEASE HELP - Duplicate Function...

why are you duplicating that function??the error message is pretty clear.?use:

    photogallery_btn.addEventListener(''click'',loadAlbum18616);

    function loadAlbum18615(event:Event):void { my_ssp.loadAlbum(''album-18'',''615''); }
    highlights_btn.addEventListener(''click'',loadAlbum18615);
    PLEASE HELP - Duplicate Function...

Thank you kglad.?Okay - I think I get it now.?I kept thinking that if I changed function loadAlbum18 that it would not work.?I understand now how Flash was seeing it as a duplicate because I was using this on both button actions.?I guess as long as I have it specified within the quotes for the Album-number it will understand which Album to pull from.

However, now I have a new problem.?If you click on the ''Highlights'' button it works great.?BUT if you click on the ''Getting There'' button it shows the image but then loops to the next image in the Album.

Can I put some sort of ''stop'' function so that it does not do that??Not sure why the ''Highlights'' button does NOT do this other than the fact that I have it as the last action under the ''Getting There'' one.

Here is a link to the test page:?http://www.pandenwolf.com/quail/qh_slideshow_gallery.html

P.S.?I understand that you may not be able to help with this since it is working with SSP for Flash.?I have also posted in their forum but have not been able to get help.

    Thanks!

    Denise

One solution that I found does work is to put each one of the 4 images in their own Album.?This way there are no other images to loop.?A bit extreme I guess but it does work.?Will be interesting to see if SSP Support comes back with any answers for me.

    importing a table into indesign

I have a job soon in which i must create tables (filled with data) that can be imported into indesign. The data comes from a database and hundreds of tables will be generated this way, then imported into indesign and eventually become a pdf and a book. My part of the job is to create the tables with data, and someone elses job is to do everything that has to do with indesign. Im planning on creating the tables with PHP and output them in the format that indesign accepts.

I found the technical reference pdf online(''Adobe Indesign CS3 and XML: A Technical Reference''), and it describes a format of tables that can be imported into indesign.

Here is an example of a table i made in that format:

    ----------------------------------------

    %26lt;Table xmlns:aid=''http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeInDesign/4.0/'' aid:table=''table'' aid:trows=''2'' aid:tcols=''2''%26gt;
    %26lt;Cell aid:table=''cell'' aid:crows=''1'' aid:ccols=''1'' aid:ccolwidth=''200''%26gt;r1c1%26lt;/Cell%26gt;
    %26lt;Cell aid:table=''cell'' aid:crows=''1'' aid:ccols=''1'' aid:ccolwidth=''200''%26gt;r1c2%26lt;/Cell%26gt;
    %26lt;Cell aid:table=''cell'' aid:crows=''1'' aid:ccols=''1'' aid:ccolwidth=''200''%26gt;r2c1%26lt;/Cell%26gt;
    %26lt;Cell aid:table=''cell'' aid:crows=''1'' aid:ccols=''1'' aid:ccolwidth=''200''%26gt;r2c2%26lt;/Cell%26gt;
    %26lt;/Table%26gt;

    ----------------------------------------

This should be a table with 2 rows and 2 columns.

Before i go any further, i must say that i know nothing about indesign and have never used it before. It is not really required for what i need to do and all i need to know is if my approach is viable. Someone else will do all the indesign work.

So i imported this table into a new indesign document, but i didnt seem to get a table as a result.

    My questions are:

    - is it possible to import tables like that into indesign?

    - Did i do something wrong?

    - Is there another way, an easier one perhaps?

    - Can html tables be imported or pasted into indesign?

    importing a table into indesign

You might just want to look into something like Teacup Software's DataLinker.

    http://www.teacupsoftware.com/products/datalinker.html

    Bob

    importing a table into indesign

Looks interesting but not sure if it would work.

The indesign people work for a different company in a different city and we cant tell them to use different software and change the way they work. They know 0 about sql and databases. Also the tables are very dynamic, each one has a different number of rows and columns, merged cells, etc. so there is not a fixed format into which the data can be inserted, And also a single table uses many different queries to get the content, there needs to be error handling to replace nulls, zeroes, yes/no, 1/0, etc. and i dont know if teacup datalinker can do it.

Does anyone know how to import a table in indesign?

File%26gt;place. For best results check show options in the place dialog and browse to an Excel or Word document.

    Bob

Does it accept anything other than word or excel?

According to the technical reference, above format should work. But nothing happens when i import it, i dont see a table anywhere.

    How did you import that?

I cut/pasted your xml to a file and tried to import it to fresh new indesign document by using File%26gt;Import XML and it worked.... try following:

    1. Import your XML

    2. A structure panel should become visible on left side of your working space

    3. Drag%26amp;drop Root tag to place where you want to insert your table..

Table is very rough looking but stucture of it is quite right I guess....

XML can be very effective way to upgrade content of existing tables but I don楹搕 know is it so good for creating new ones... You may face all kinds of difficulties with wrong tags at wrong places... and they can follow your indd-document and cause all kinds of troubles in future for people who continues working with your files.

Thanks Petteri, thats what i was looking for.

I did as you described and it worked. Previously i did not do step 3 that you mentioned, because i really know nothing about how indesign or its panels work and hadnt thought about dragging the root to the other side of the screen. I tried to drag the table, but that wasnt possible.

    Now i know it works.

About the XML: i figure if i stick to the table format from the indesign technical reference, and not do any new tags in it, the tables will always work. This will all be a one time import per table, and the data of each table will not be updated after that.

  • cfdocument align=justify - 4 year old...

FOUR years ago I reported a bug in ColdFusion 7's cfdocument PDF rendering engine. It prevents any text from being justified which had made business documents generated by ColdFusion look rather messy and unprofessional.

I reported the bug again during the CF8 beta. It still remains in place in CF9 some 4 years on.

The open source Railo and BlueDragon CFML engines don't have this problem. So why has Adobe, who invented the PDF format, not taken any interest in fixing the problem for 4 years? If a 3rd party library is at fault then update it or change it for one that Railo or BD uses.

Will this be fixed in the next CF9 beta? If not then we need to elegantly find a way of sending cfdocument requests to a Railo/BD server and then return confirmation to the CF server. Maybe as web service. The servers all have access to the same file share (web root) so the PDF can be deposited in there rather than sending the binary back via the web service.

    I think I handled the start-up issue

I've been having problems with CS4 starting up from a saved project. I would have to open it 2, 3 or 4 times before PP would remain running and not shut down. I think (hope) I've handled it. I have the trial version of Neoscene and noticed when I double clicked any AVI file I got a ''Data Execution Prevention'' window. By turning off DEP for CineForm HD, Windows Media Player and Windows Explorer the AVIs play fine. But also my saved project in CS4 opens on the first try. Well, at least 3 times in a row.?Could this have been the issue with PP start-up?

    I think I handled the start-up issue

Makes one wonder what the hell Cineform is doing that requires turning off DEP.?That should be kept on at all times for security purposes.?Cineform should rewrite their code so that it's not trying to do things it shouldn't be doing.

Linking to a point on a page

    Hi

I am building a site at present and need to link to a cretain point on a page - the best way I can explain it is that it wants to appear as if the page does not move but the text is simply replaced for the corresponding tab.?Probably best to show what I mean.

    http://www.justadwater.co.uk/MLO_Site_Build/life_cover.html

The premise here is that each tab moves onto a new section but keeps the impression of being on the same page.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks

Is there a way I am going to be able to bring in the rollover functionality of the buttons that are shown here or is that too much to ask

It looks like the rollover is on both pages mentioned and I don't see any spry tabs in either page.

    greetings.

i have to reproduce a logo for a client who wants their logo printed on some large signage, banners, etc.?(their logo is attached)

making the shape of the letters is easy.?however, i'm having some trouble figuring out how to get the ''brushed glow'' on the lettering.

if anyone has suggestions on how to achieve this in illustrator, i'd greatly appreciate hearing them.?i know some of the effects in illustrator could get me close but i don't want to create any raster elements, if possible.?i've been messing around with some brushes, but i'm not sure that's the best approach.

    any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    creating a glow effect

Gradient Mesh is about the only way to do it without raster effects.

You could try a blend, but blends won't offer near the control of a mesh.

    creating a glow effect

As Scott points out the Gradient Mess is the y to go, for Scott this is much easier then it might be foyou but it in time an patience will come to you there is a learning curve but once you catch on then it is a really great tool.

    Especially for something like this.

Of course if Illustrator had some type effect tools this be?better approach but it does not and Type Styler is not available for modern OSs.

How to Adjust Pitch With Keyframes?

I have a 3 minute audio clip of a voice singing. Lots of it is off key. Can I make several adjustments to the pitch along the timeline with keyframes? I can do it in SONY Sound Forge, but I need to listen to the instrumental audio on a separate track as I make each adjustment and I can't do that in Sound Forge.

How to Adjust Pitch With Keyframes?

I'm not sure Premiere is the right tool for this job.?Usually professional sound software is used for this sort of thing.?Pro Tools and the like.

How to Adjust Pitch With Keyframes?

Can you open a second instance of SoundForge? What about solo'ing Tracks in SoundForge? Doesn't it allow for Multi-track editing?

Adobe Audition will let me easily play one Clip in Multi-track Mode and then switch between that (reference file) and the editing file.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

Even if I could open up two instances of Sound Forge I couldn't get both audio tracks to play simultaneously. I believe I will have to scrap the idea of editing in Sound Forge and move on to Melodyne. It's just a bit costly.

Now, in Audition, you could mix-down your stereo files and feed one to the left channel of your headphones and the right to the other.

Personally, I'd not want to confemplate doing this, but then I have a tin-ear, so for someone capable, it would probably easier, than it sounds to me.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

Sound Forge v.9 is multitrack and will even let you watch the video as you go!

That is good info. I do not know SoundForge, so could not help the OP. Audition, as of 2.0 allows the same, but the OP did not have that program.

    Thanks,

    Hunt

In Soundforge 9.0 I cannot see any way to play 2 tracks while adjusting the pitch on one of them.

Hi, thanks. Using the Option key works. It's been so long since I used CS2 that I'd forgotton about that:) Thanx.

Illustrator features I楹揹 like to see

C楹搈on, this is a vector program first of all.. Illustrator has lots of effects and so on, but is lacking in the basic detailed beizer handling.

Check out Fontlab and you楹搇l see what I mean.

    1. Bezier handling.

    a. You should be able to pull out a bezier handle from a vector node, just one if you like to, and set the exact coordinate for that handle. Retraction of handles should also be available (like in Fontlab and Freehand).

    b. You should be able to delete a node from a curve, and the curve should try and stay as much the same is it can, not collapse like it now does.

    c. For quality logo work and so on, a really tight fit bezier curve optimization tool is crucial, where the curve stays the same, gets a bit smoother if needed, and adds ponts at extrema, like in Fontlab.

    2. Strokes. I want to be able to change the stroke endings. Right now there楹搒 round and not round. And the round is mechanically, not optically, round.

You should be able to paste in objects and use them on endings and corners on a stroke, to get the exakt stroke you want. And I楹搈 not talking about what you get with the pattern brush, with space between the different shapes. These custom endings should not be streched in any way, other than maybe optionally.

    3. Symbols.

I would like to have a symbol sprayer that will be able to:

    - Not overlap (the symbols are placed side by side)

    - Only spray inside of a given form

    - Be connected to a grid, like the one in Freehand

    Thanks!

Illustrator features I楹揹 like to see

Some things I forgot to mention:

    1. I楹揹 like to be able to switch all nodes visible, so I can see them even when not working with them, maybe at a certain zoom factor (like the baseline grid in InDesign).

    2. The Graph Tool is a joke. It hasn楹搕 been updated since, I dunno, version 1?

    Cheers!

  • How does crop pages work in Acrobat?

Although I have ''eliminated white space'' from pdfs for email attachments, recently I tried cropping a pdf before placing it in an InDesign document (it was saved as a pdf from a crossword puzzle-creating application and sent to me). I seemed to be able to crop it, save the cropped version, and verify that it was cropped by opening the pdf in Acrobat, but when I place the pdf, it always displays the image uncropped. IT suggests that the problem might be that CS2 has difficulties with Vista, although when I try it on my Mac at home, I see the same thing. Is cropping only a function available for viewing pdfs in Acrobat?

OK, so if I want to actually crop the image, I

I wasn't sure exactly what refrying entailed, but I wasn't successful

when I tried saving the cropped PDF as PDF (it still resulted in a

non-cropped image when imported). It did work, though, when I saved

it as postscript and double-clicked the PS file, which I guess

    distilled it.

Glad I was of some help.

Sure your correct saving a PS then Droping on Distiller.

Its been a while since I've had to do so.?I did now you had to make a new PDF from the altered PDF (ReFry) in order to make Changes permanent.

Thanks for your help, Phillip! But now that I know how to do it, I'm

not sure it would often be worth it, since I can crop images in

InDesign (my usual destination)-- I had assumed that the crop tool in

Acrobat would do the same job (in one step).

Acrobat is the only Application I am aware of that has a non-destructive Crop.?I guess to make it easy to rest in case you made a mistake. In other applications you just save an extra copy to cover yourself.

So I agree with you.?It can be done but ist not worth it.

FWIW, Photoshop's Crop command is also non-destructive. You have to choose Trim after the crop to truly remove the data.

The recommendation to ''refry'' the PDF was correct; as far as I know it's the only way to truly get rid of the masked/hidden data. I even have a lynda.com video tutorial all about refrying to get rid of cropped data (part of my Acrobat Pro 9.0 Tips and Techniques title). It can be frustrating, especially if you're trying to crop out questionable/embarrassing data ;-)

    AnneMarie,

But when I place a cropped image from Photoshop into Indesign, for

instance, only the portion within the marquee is displayed in my

Indesign doc; do you mean that the rest of the image is still there

unless I choose Trim after cropping? The file size is reduced after

cropping, though--I guess I thought that was an indication that the

    data was removed.

pardon my typing skills, using hunt %26amp; peck I sometimes leave a letter out here and there. I proof, but sometimes even I see the post as correct until after posted.

Glad to know that Photoshop has non-destructive crop.

    AnneMarie and Phillip,

Sorry to be thick-headed, but can you explain how what I observed

about Photoshop cropped images demonstrates that Photoshop does non-

destructive cropping? Obviously there's something I'm not getting!

I can't tell how to prove in Photoshop unless the fllowing in Acrobat works in Photoshop.

Create a PDF now crop it as per previous instructions. (Don't ReFry).

    Now save changes Close Acrobat.

Now wait a while. or do something else. Come back to Acrobat by opening the PDF.

    Notice its still cropped.

Now open Crop, and click on opposite buttons as you used to crop toi remove cropping.

now loof at PDF notice the cropping has disappeared or changed.

Now open Photoshop and use Photoshop's Crop tool see if you can reverse a crop if so it was a non-destructive crop. If you used Trim (based on AnneMarie's info) it won't change.

I came in late on this one, but I think I can help. You shouldn't need to re-distill a new pdf file.

    1) Crop and save the Acrobat file as you normally would.

    2) In the inDesign document, instead of dragging the pdf onto the page, go to File %26gt; Place and a ''Place File'' window will open.

    3) Click on the ''Show import Options'' button in the lower left corner of the screen and then choose the file you want to place. and the ''Place PDF'' window will open.

    4) In the Options area the ''Crop To'' default is generally set to ''Bounding Box''. Change this to ''Crop'' and click OK.

    5) Place the pdf file in the InDesign document.

From then on you should be able to drag cropped pdf files onto an InDesign page and the crop will hold.

You shouldn't have to use the File %26gt; Place option again as this setting should hold unless you change it as I have outlined above.

Please be aware that a program update may change the setting back to the ''Bounding Box'' default.

    Hope this helps!

    lopesjl,

It works! Thank you, thank you--I'll file your suggestion away!

No problem. Glad to be of help. It works the same on the PC side as well. Give it a whirl.

I use Creative Suite on a Mac at work and on a PC at home.

For me, it's reversed--Mac at home and PC at work!

How to load up to 12 million X-Y...

How do I build an application that can load up to 10Million dots; small X-Y identifiable coordinates that can fire events like onClick etc? Would the flash player handle 1Mil clicks a minute? Attached is a sample of what the resulting grouping of the points would look like.

How to load up to 12 million X-Y...

First find an operating system that can generate that many mouseclicks. Then we'll work backward from there.

How to load up to 12 million X-Y...

I think you're going to need a little more clarification here.?Also other than the performance question, this doesn't sound terribly Flex specific (not that you can't still ask the question here).

Performance wise, I'm going to bet that you're probably okay but it definitely depends on what you're doing for each click, as well.?As far as the performance hit for firing one million click events and handling them with a very basic response, it completes in just a few seconds.?So if that's spread over a minute I think you'll be fine.

Not sure I can say much more without more specifics.?Also if we knew a little more about your objective, someone might be able to suggest a different or better approach.

What kind of application are you building? Seems to me you don't really need individual dots, just check the mouse x/y cooridnates and act appropriately.

If this post answers your question or helps, please mark it as such.

    It will be user generated.

An application that responds to user clicks over a certain stage size. However, I realize that you could just have a graph layout (graphing paper) and respond to each box as a pixel or something like that.

I don't think the player will handle 12M mouse targets. You'll need to have a single (or few) target and figure out which actual target it was based on some algorithm. However, if that algorithm also requires scanning 12M things, it doubt it will perform well either. Has this application been written on other platforms?

  • CR changing colors

    Hello, rookie here, please help:

I Have PS4, CR 5.4 and Canon 40D. When I open images in Bridge or CR, images change in color. They didn't look like they were on camera or as they look in canon software. Why this is happenning?
It looks like photoshop put all images to look the same, instead of keeping their differences: for exemple, two images, one with null colors other with vivid ones, appears the same when open by PS...

    CR changing colors

    ...also:

why does CR assume some values for each photo opened (blacks: 5; brightness: +50; contrast: +25) for all images opened?

    CR changing colors

This has been discussed here at nauseam.?Please browse older threads.

Bridge will initially show you the in-camera generated built-in preview.?Then ACR builds a true preview based on the actual raw data.

ACR's rendition is not designed to emulate what you saw in the camera LCD.

Check your Camera Raw preferences and make sure you have not checked the box to automatically apply Camera Raw adjustments.

You need to learn how to use Adobe Camera Raw.?Here's some essential reading for you:

Your post is slanderous, abusive, offensive and contributes nothing.

Clicking on your profile reveals absolutely no other contributions from you other than the two unfortunate interventions in this one thread and no other posting history whatsoever.

Report it to the moderators and let them decide.

Thank you, but I did not ask you for advice, nor do I need any from the likes of you.

Ok, thank you for the answers, not thank you to your private discussion

I did a lot of research about that here in forum, but I dont think I it was clear enough (maybe because of my bad english), or maybe you are right and i need to learn much more about raw...that楹搒 what I will do.

This Jumping Walrus (what an appropriate moniker!) is now engaging in a senseless, unproductive vendetta without a single redeeming value and without contributing a thing to the discussion, the topic or the forum.

His charges of ''misinformation'' are frivolous, without merit and false on their face.?I'm happy to let his posts speak for themselves, as well as mine.

He is the one who suggested I report his abuse.?Now he doesn't like ''my tone''.?

    * Plonk!?%26lt;閳ユ柡鈧?sound of Jumping Walrus being plonked.

You are more than welcome, Barrento.

My point was to stress to you that Adobe Camera Raw has matured into a very complex, powerful and professional application of its own, and that it takes more than just fiddling with a few sliders.?The book I recommended [CLICK HERE] and which I hereby recommend again is excellent.

Sorry about the interruption by someone who failed to contribute anything of value to this discussion.

It's posters like you, Barrento, who have been thanking me publicly and privately for the last six years and over something like forty-thousand public posts on these Adobe forums, that make it worthwhile for me to give back some of what I have gained here over the years myself.

I can't help the few that come into the forums just itching for a fight閳ユ攣nd inevitably find it.

Incidentally, Barrento, if my post had been ''full of errors'', you could have counted on Thomas Knoll and Jeff Schewe to set me straight right away in no uncertain terms.?Perhaps they still will, but maybe my post was not that bad after all.??My points were:

ACR's rendition is not designed to emulate what you saw in the camera LCD.

Bridge will initially show you the in-camera generated built-in
preview based on the camera manufacturers criteria, which are different from ACR's.?

Then ACR builds its own preview based on the actual raw data.?That's what I refer to as a true Bridge preview, as opposed to the initially shown built-in in-camera-generated preview.
